Weekend Sport – Sat 2nd December

Rugby: Disappointment at the 1st XVs last minute defeat by Kelso 35-30 was mitigated by picking up two league points for scoring four tries (James Ferguson, Jack Blain, Ruaridh Mitchell (2)).  Two conversions by Freddie Roddick and two penalties by Gregor Porteous added up to the 30 points scored leaving us in 11th place at the halfway stage of the league.

Musselburgh inconveniently beat Gala 41-39 to move 5 points above the 1sts in 9th place but we are within 2 points of Cartha Queens Park (10th).  Falkirk having lost all 11 games have only one point.

The next match is on Saturday (9th Dec) at 2pm at Raeburn Place v Edinburgh Accies who top the table with 11 wins from 11 played.

Cricket: The Cricket Club held their AGM last Tuesday evening.   The main item saw the club’s name changed to “Stewart’s Melville Cricket Club”.   John Archer was re-elected as President, Lawrance Reilly becomes Vice-President and Greg Ruthven remains as 1st XI captain.
