Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

Weekend Sport – Sat 16th December

Rugby

The 1st XV match with GHA predictably fell victim to the week’s frosty weather. The rugby club’s lunch hosted by Jim Calder with the SRU’s CEO Mark Dodson speaking about the part time professional super sixes competition to be introduced in season 2019-20 went ahead. The SRU anticipate having one franchised team from each of their four districts plus two others participating with the possibility of adding more franchises in the future. Each franchise would be restricted to registering a squad of 35 players in agreement with the SRU. Below the Super Sixes all rugby clubs would play league rugby on an all amateur basis. After his formal presentation questions were taken from the floor.

The next schedule match for the 1st XV is Saturday 6th January at Inverleith v Cartha Queens Park (2pm).
